Club Ethics

Breeder and Owner

A breeder is defined as somebody who has more than 1 litter in the duration of their

membership, or somebody who has registered an affix and holds the status of Breeder in

the club.

1. Provide proper housing, nutrition, hydration, exercise, and veterinary care for all

dogs in their care.

2. Consent unreservedly to allowing any veterinarian who performs surgery that

changes a dog's natural structure (including the tacking or removal of cherry eye or

dew claws), or conducts a caesarean section on a bitch, to report such procedures to

the Club, and to have a responsibility to report this to the club themselves.

3. Assure that no healthy puppy is euthanised. Puppies not meeting the breed standard

should be rehomed responsibly.

4. Comply with the Animal Welfare Act in its entirety.

5. Avoid creating a market for, or supplying, puppies with illegal tail docking or ear

cropping.

6. Prevent their dogs from roaming freely or disturbing neighbours or officials.

7. Ensure dogs wear tagged collars, are leashed or effectively controlled when outside

the home. Dogs registered with this club must be always kept under control, and

there is a zero-tolerance approach to owners who allow their dog to be out of

control at any time.

8. Clean up after their dogs in public and exhibition spaces.

9. Endeavour to sell puppies with an effective puppy contract, and to keep reasonable

track of puppies for the entirety of their lifetimes.

10. Sell dogs only when a healthy, happy life is foreseeable, and assist with rehoming if

circumstances change.

11. Provide new owners with dietary information and responsible ownership guidance.

12. Supply all relevant Club documents to new owners upon selling or transferring a dog

and commit to sending any delayed documents as soon as possible.

13. Refrain from selling dogs to commercial wholesalers, retail pet dealers, or using dogs

as prizes or donations in competitions. Avoid selling Club registration certificates

separately from the dogs.

14. Avoid misrepresenting the breed’s traits, falsely advertising dogs, or misleading

anyone about a dog’s health or quality.

Breach of these rules may lead to expulsion from the Club, disciplinary action by the

Club, and/or legal action by relevant authorities.
